Tag Prime

The Tag Prime carries neither GNSS nor SIM card. It broadcasts over Bluetooth 5.4 and is collected by the Tracking Prime within a 250 m radius. That device aggregates its companions' data and sends it to the server in a single message.
One Tracking Prime on the dominant animal, three Tag Prime spread through the herd: that setup is enough to follow the collective activity of hundreds of head. An approach we have offered for four years, suited to gregarious sheep and goat flocks.
This approach is an Alpes-éco innovation, and we are pioneers of the technique in pastoralism. No field maintenance, no battery to change, and a new family of tags is on its way.
Which animals to equip?
The Tag Prime never works on its own. It needs a Tracking Prime within range to be collected and for its data to come through.
The most common use is as a complement: 1 Tracking Prime on the leader, then a few Tag Prime fitted on selected animals. You follow the group without equipping every head.
But that is not the only use. The ram is an ideal case for following reproduction, and dedicated modules are coming for it. You can also fit them on the calves of certain cows. At this price the advantage is above all economic: you cover many animals for the cost of a single tracker.
To follow one specific animal continuously, you need a tracker, not a tag.
The device
The lightest and hardiest of all our devices. With no network, no subscription and no maintenance, it is fitted once and works for years.
A quadrio, that is one tracker and three tags, is enough to cover a whole herd's collective activity: group movements, collective agitation, position relative to the leader.

The format
A single housing, in solid-machined POM. IP69 certified, waterproof to 5 m, resistant to bites, horns and impacts.

The tag broadcasts continuously. The Tracking Prime listens and passes up what it heard. This is what you then read in your app.

The Tag Prime fixes to the collar, which must be at least 60 mm wide. Four 5 mm holes must be drilled, at the housing's eyelet positions.

The 250 m range is theoretical, measured on flat open ground. In the mountains, count on 100 m instead. The scan is affected by water bodies, buildings and relief, and the location given remains indicative.
How the Tag Prime works
The Tracking Prime, worn by the dominant animal, permanently scans the Tag Prime around it.
Compatible animals
For herbivores only: sheep, goats, cattle and horses. Not suitable for guardian dogs.
